#Film Review: Netflix’s The Babysitter (2017)

Director: McG

Rating: 3/5

The Babysitter is a new film on Netflix. I watched it on Saturday and I am still not sure how I feel about this film and what to say.

Basically, Cole (Judah Lewis) is bullied and he gets super cool babysitter Bee (Samara Weaving) he really loves. She teaches him how to defend himself and gives him lots of self-confidence, encouragement and support.

Then one night he decides to stay awake to see if she is having boyfriends over. Her friends do come to visit her, and at first it seems as if they are innocently playing truth or dare.

She gets dared to kiss everyone and as she accepts the challenge she goes from one member of her group to the other only to leave a shy guy everyone barely knows as last. She convinces him to accept the kiss and while we think she just kissed a geek in a very tender and caring way to give him the best first kiss ever… BOOM…she stabs two knifes in his head and drains blood out of him.

As it turns out, she is a leader of the Satanic group that needed blood for a ritual that will give them everything they ever wanted. And the next thing is blood of a virgin or Cole himself…

A really surprising film. It is not clear how it will end so there is an element of surprise that lasts throughout the film. It is the weirdest film I ever watched for sure because while it can be disgusting, there are also hilarious moments. I actually ended up googling the director as soon as the film ended to see if he looks weird but he doesn’t (McG) so I suppose we never know what is in someone’s head.

Just go and watch this weird film and see for yourself.
Thank you for reading.
